This wedding is what puts Madison, Wisconsin on the map! John & Marissa met while going to school at the UW… said their first ‘I Love You’s’ while walking to class on campus… em’I right Marissa?? 😉 John tagged along on a Rose Bowl trip while gaining the courage to ask her out on a date. They are a UW Madison couple 100%. So of course we had to hit up the Memorial Union Terrace for some group shots and the Madison Capitol too.
Each part of their day was planned with such care. They had a beautiful Catholic Ceremony in a light filled at St. Albert’s Church in Sun Prairie. As they rushed down the isle, they were so filled with joy. I knew they were planning to steal away after the marriage ceremony for a few moments alone… I followed them and I’m so darn glad I did. They sat next to one another, smiling, gazing at their new wedding bands and basking in the first moments of their marriage. Just the two of them… and me…
(Now is probably a good time to note the importance of picking the right person to photograph your day… cuz well… I’m like the third wheel on the best day of your life! ha ha!)
They left the church to an amazing red & white Pom-Pom send off! I mean, GO BUCKY!!
It was a B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L Day. And the Union Terrace was packed. But it was great and we had fun, and the pictures were amazing.
Oh, and a special shout out to the coolest dudes who we kicked out of this shaded tent spot so we could get some fun group photos. Karma will come back to you on your wedding day!
Annnnd to this dude! for real,… one of my most favorite photo bombs! ha!
The guys NAILED this moment.
I love photographing at the capital and I love it even more when my couple tells me to do whatever I want! These group photos are my fav.
Also a favorite moment right here… I so wish this image had audio to go along with it… those guys yelling out the window had me laughing so darn hard.
An now… the first dances. They were perfection. Truly, I don’t think a single soul in the entire place could take their eyes off of the dance floor. I must be honest here, I was crying so hard during Marissa & her Mom’s first dance that I’m amazed I walked away with a single photo in focus. I love my job. Also, I pray that one day my daughters and I will share a relationship like Marissa and her beautiful Mom.
And then, as if things could get any more amazing… they danced on State Street.
Marissa and John, documenting your wedding day is what photography dreams are made of.
If you are a couple who loves documentary wedding photography and won’t mind a photographer who will laugh and cry all throughout your wedding day, call me… email me… send me a crow. I love my job and can’t wait to photograph wedding day love stories like John & Marissa.
