It’s been said that you should marry someone who makes you laugh… Jen & Russ are going to be married for a million years. They had the hugest smiles on their faces the entire day, I don’t think I met a couple who laughed with one another more on their wedding day than these two. They had a beautiful Wisconsin fall wedding on a perfect October day and I was the lucky wedding photographer to tell the story.
The day started at one of my very favorite Catholic Parish’s in the area, Saint Ann’s Catholic Church in Stoughton Wisconsin. Jen grew up just a few blocks away and also attended the Catholic School connected to the church. Both, Jen and Russ were completely relaxed and ready to be married. Everyone was excited so so happy. Russ and his groomsmen watched a bit of football in the school library and tried to pin a few boutonnieres on each other. (They tried so hard but I may have had to fix a couple. I also may have laughed out loud at a couple attempts! opps! ;p) Jen’s father played the violin as guests arrived and Jen tucked herself away in a quiet stairwell to listen as the guests arrived. Jen told me a year earlier how excited she was to listen to her Dad play for her wedding and he was amazing. Their wedding ceremony was perfect and they beamed down the isle.
They are such a genuine pair and the wedding party was just so easy to hangout with as we drove around our tiny town finding the best photo stops. We finished up at a local bar and Jen drank a Moscow Mule as her bridesmaids bustled her dress. Wisconsin Weddings are the best! The sunset perfectly in time for some lovely portraits on a fishing bridge. The light was golden, the air was warm and the leaves were colorful.
Finally we headed to the reception at the Wyndham Garden Hotel in Fitchburg. It is such a unique hotel ballroom with a wall of windows and a grand staircase. The family speeches were amazing. Jen’s father took the cake and I was laughing out loud. He had always wanted Jen to met and marry an engineer while she was in college and wasn’t shy about saying so. He even had tips on how to go about meeting one… He encouraged her to get all dolled up and walk around the engineering department halls!! HA!! He mentioned it so much that when it was Jen’s maid of honor’s turn with the mic, she too had a few stories about Jen’s Dad and his sage dating advice. So you can only imagine how excited he was when Jen met Russ… AN ENGINEER for the railroad. To welcome Russ to the family, Jen’s father and siblings sang the fanciest rendition of ‘I’ve been working on the railroad’ that I’ve ever heard. The evening kept getting better. The dance floor was packed all night long EVERYONE was having fun, I could barely squeeze in to get photos.
It was the perfect Wisconsin fall wedding and the perfect way to close out my 2016 wedding season!
