Jodi & Chris planned a colorful wedding at the Stoughton Country Club. It was a perfect summer day… a beautiful breeze off of the lake kept everyone cool, the sky was perfectly overcast for all of our photos even! It was a dream day as far as summer weddings go in Wisconsin. I arrived early and marveled at the details Jodi had put together. I LOVED how colorful everything was… oh and the card table… so great! Jodi was so organized and so very calm all day long. It felt like she was soaking in every single second of the day. When I went to meet Chris and the groomsmen, the first thing he asked me was how Jodi was doing with a huge smile on his face. Getting to know Jodi & Chris has been such a joy, they make each other laugh so much! Taking photos of them was so easy! I’m so glad that Jodi’s friend set them up at a house party by asking Chris to tend the grill and Jodi to keep Chris company… a match made in grilling heaven!
A little from Jodi & Chris:
Jodi, what was your favorite moment/s from the day?
One of my favorite moments was getting to see all my hard work and visions come together finally. Seeing all my bridesmaids in their dresses with the necklaces a gave them was very exciting for me. I also loved the moment right before I walked down the aisle. I was so excited my knees were shaking, and my dad leaned over to me and told me I looked beautiful and that everything would be wonderful. Obviously, getting to marry my best friend in front of our friends and family was my absolute favorite moment, followed by one more favorite moment. My dance with my dad was only the second time in my life I had ever danced with my dad, and he was looking at me with so much love in his eyes. It was an amazing moment for me. The whole day really did turn out perfect.
Chris, what was your favorite moment/s from the day?
I was standing next to Jodi in front of all of our loved ones and we still couldn’t be completely serious; just like always. We are goofy and make faces at each other constantly, and the same thing happened while we were affirming our love for each other for the rest of our lives. I couldn’t imagine anything different being with my best friend starting the rest of our lives together.
I love how colorful and unique your wedding décor was, I know you planned it and created so much of it. Could you tell me a bit about your inspiration and how it all came together?
For years before we were even engaged I had decided for who knows what reason that I wanted lanterns as our centerpieces. When it came time to actually plan the wedding, I looked into buying lanterns and couldn’t find anything for the price or the style I wanted. My dad offered to make the lanterns, and had wood from where I grew up that he could make them out of. One day, I had the random idea that it would look awesome if I arranged flowers inside the lanterns to make it look like light inside of them. I did a trial run after we built the first lantern and loved it.
As for the colors, I have always loved putting as much color into everything that I can. I always wanted to have a fall wedding, but because I am still in school that wasn’t really an option. I found ideas online of fall colors, and tried to make them work for the summer wedding that we were actually having. Once I picked my colors I kept thinking of more and more ways to incorporate those colors throughout everything in the wedding.
Any other bits you want to include?
Everyone tells you when your getting married that it goes fast and you should try to enjoy every minute of it. I thought the whole day that that didn’t matter to me, but now that everything is over, I wish it had lasted longer. On your wedding day, you are surrounded by everyone in your life that loves and supports you. It is such a wonderful feeling to feel so loved by so many people. So as much as it is said, you really should try to take in and enjoy every moment of your wedding day.
This moment right here when you notice your husband has a stain on his pants… ha ha!! Love it!
