I can’t believe it is already August and I know I’m not the only one! I have enjoyed all of the weddings and newborns and families so far this year and I’ve even managed to take a few photos of my own kids with my Fujifilm XT2! I still use my phone a ton but man do I love my new camera.
Sam’s second birthday was low key and perfect. Another backyard fete that are always a favorite for our crew. And what birthday wouldn’t be complete without a blurry photo of me and the birthday kid! ha ha. We went with a minion theme this year for Sam.
It shocks me to see how many photo’s I have of the boys always right next to each other. They seem to fight constantly these days but man they are pretty connected at the hip. Sam is really, really into all things trucks & cars but Gus is more of a ninja, knight – sword guy right now.
I also managed to surprise my Dad with a sixtieth surprise party at the barn of his good friend, Nelson. It was perfect and the most ‘on the fly’ party I’ve ever planed. Nelson and I made the plans two weeks before his birthday in about one minute while my Dad turned his back. Nelson & Steph were the most gracious hosts and offered up their stunning barns and property for us all to gather. He was speechless and I couldn’t believe we did it! I couldn’t have done it without the help of all of his friends and family. I was photographing weddings back to back to back and basically just showed up and took all the credit!
Growing up around horses, barn parties are the only way to go, so when he was told to come on over to Nelson’s for a Sunday afternoon drink the didn’t think twice. Drinking and looking at horses doesn’t get much better than that!
Seriously… red solo cups are the best toys ever… especially after a quick summer rain.
Otherwise we have been busy with acting camp, Irish dance, Totus Tuus, and the best little midwest fair just blocks from our house. Oh and so many trips to the beach! We are soaking up this summer, the best time of year! We’ve read a bunch of great summer books over lunch and bought a slip and slide on a whim one day too. I’m so excited for the rest of summer… we have birthdays & vacations all planned still and so much to look forward too. I plan to eek out every last drop of summer fun.
How about you all? Are you soaking up all the fun and finding time to be lazy too?
