This year my friend Alice Asleson, was the featured quilter at the Syttende Man celebration in our hometown, Stoughton, Wisconsin. I was thrilled at the chance to document this honor she so greatly deserved. Her talent and dedication is obvious to even a non-sewer like myself. I loved seeing all of her favorite quits at the show and chatting with her a bit about some of the process.
This quilt was started when she picked up some vintage pieces at an auction and then brought the quilt to life.
She also began a quilt project to honor Vetran’s by organizing a group of quilter to create free quits and then they donate them to local veteran’s in the hospital. She has done this project for years and has donated hundreds of quilts. This was one of those quilts she borrowed back just for the show!
Thank you so much for the beautiful wedding quilt you made for me, Alice, I still love it and feel honored to have had a quilt from you!
